Back Up Your iPhone
Before you do anything, make sure your device is backed up. You can do this via iCloud or can connect your iPhone to a computer and perform an iTunes backup instead.
You can find steps to back up your iPhone by clicking here.
How to Factory Reset Your iPhone
Now that your iPhone is backed up, it's time to perform a factory reset of the device. Please follow the below step by step guide to reset your device.
Unlock your iPhone or iPad and launch the Settings app.
Tap General.
Scroll to the bottom and tap Reset.
Tap Erase All Content and Settings.
Tap in your passcode if requested.
Enter your Apple ID password to erase the iPhone and remove it from your account.
Tap Erase.
Allow the reset process to continue – it shouldn't take any longer than a couple of minutes. Once it's completed, you'll see the iOS welcome screen on your iPhone. Once you see this you're good to trade in or sell your iPhone.
Do your homework on eBay or similar auction sites before accepting any trade in deal. Sometimes you can be better off selling and buying vs trade ins. Other times this is not the case. Remember to subtract about 20% for fees from online selling markets and to look at actual sold listings not ask prices.
