AI tool helps Dsylexic contractor write emails

London-based search engine optimization consultant Danny Richman has developed an app that helps dyslexic contractor Ben Whittle communicate with clients more effectively. Whittle, who runs swimming pool installation company Ashridge Pools, struggled to write emails to clients due to his dyslexia. However, with Richman's help, he was able to improve his language skills and communicate more effectively with clients. The app, which was built in just 15 minutes by Richman and is based on OpenAI's GPT-3 artificial intelligence tool, can be used on either a phone or desktop. It converts whatever text is typed into formal emails written in British English spelling and grammar, with a professional but friendly tone.

Whittle said that the app has been instrumental in helping him improve his own language skills, as he can compare his own writing to what the tool produces. He has even started using the app to help his young children with their own writing, saying "when the boys have to write something, I'm like, 'Oh, that needs a full stop' because now I know where it belongs."

Richman said that he has received a lot of positive feedback about the app, with people from around the world reaching out to him for assistance in building similar tools for those with speech and language difficulties. He is also in talks with OpenAI about ways to share the app more widely with the company's help. "My hope is that this can be achieved at zero cost to users and without the need for any form of commercialization," Richman said.

A spokesperson for OpenAI said that the company is glad that Richman's app "can play a small part in achieving professional and personal goals. We look forward to what Danny and others continue building with GPT-3." Richman added that he is optimistic about the potential for AI to be used to empower people and be a "positive and democratizing force."
