What is the function of dreams? Why do we dream at all, and why do we remember so little of them when we do? These are just a couple of the questions that drove Michael L. Perlis, Ph.D., to dive into the world of sleep medicine and research when he was still in his early twenties. Today, he is a professor at the University of Pennsylvania and spends most of his time conducting research on insomnia, placebo, and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) for insomnia research.
